Find the Total Area of Two Rectangles (3.MD.C.7) is a timed, interactive math game where students solve area problems by building and analyzing rectangles like a “garden plan.” Players work with adjacent rectangles and L-shaped figures, using the distributive property and missing side length reasoning to find the area of each part and the total area.

On each new challenge, the screen displays a grid-based diagram—often an L-shape—and students can draw directly on the board using a built-in pen and eraser to sketch a cut line that splits the shape into two rectangles. Then they enter:

• the area of Rectangle A
• the area of Rectangle B
• the total area
• and, in certain rounds, a hidden side length

The game provides immediate feedback, celebrates correct answers with encouraging messages, and tracks progress with a streak counter, total correct answers, attempts, and a high score.
