This is a two-page document. The first page tells a short story and students will graph the numbers in the story. Students will then answer three questions, two of which help them interpret the results. The second page is a movement activity in which students will first draw depictions of their four favorite summertime activities and then they will go around the classroom asking their classmates which one of the four they like best. They can use tally marks to keep track. Lastly, the students will create a bar graph of the results and then answer two questions analyzing their data.

This is a game where students will roll dice, write those numbers down, add them up, and then compare them to see who has the better shot to score a goal. Once they play 8 rounds they will add up their total wins and those of their partner and then compare the two numbers to see who won the game.

Image

salt crystal lab image

In this 3rd through 10th-grade lab, students will observe the formation of salt crystals. Students will also add food coloring to their dissolved salt solution to demonstrate how chemical impurities can change a mineral's color. If you have enough students doing the lab your class will get to see many different results. This Earth Science lab comes with the student work, student image sample results, and with my own insights and explanations as to how the experiment can work well.

Smartboard Notebook: The Unfair Game, study game

The object of this educational study game is to be the team with the number of points closest to 0. There are negative and positive numbers that hide behind balloons that students will come up to the board and pop. Numbers range from the negatives to the positives. They get choices of passing the balloon pop to another team or popping it themselves. This study game was quite competitive at the high school level. I have tested it out with my Spanish students and they really liked it.
